11 so called Alqaeda terrorists and 7 foreign civilians have reportedly been killed in Algeria, after the military launched a final raid to free the hostages held at a gas plant. The militants said they took the captives in revenge for the French intervention in neighboring Mali. Afshin Rattansi, an author and journalist who has been following the developing crisis, says that Mali intervention shows that there's no real difference between Hollande and Sarkozy.
