An analyst says the French are the ultimate losers of the Mali war as with the support of Western states, including the British and the Americans they might 'win the war, but will lose peace.' The comment comes as on January 11 France launched war on Mali under the pretext of halting the advance of the fighters combating against the Malian army in the West African country. Some Western states and their allies have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to Mali's ruling junta. The United States, Canada, Britain, Belgium, Germany, and Denmark have voiced support for the French war.
